The firm was founded by James H. Nance on August 1, 1963 and concentrates on personal injury and wrongful death cases. Nance, Cacciatore & Hamilton is one of nine firms selected by the state of Florida to sue the Tobacco industry in 1997, which resulted in a precedent-setting settlement of $13 billion.
